Here we have prepared a few examples of the type of work we undertake. Due to client confidentiality we are unable to identify specific details about our clients. However, we are able to overview in principle some of our activities. Some of our clients have recieved our services for over 20 years.
HMCS Court Security Services
Early in the new millennium, ECS was given to understand that Gwent Magistrates Courts Committee (‘MCC’) was being audited and it was found to be failing in the area of providing effective Court Security Officers in their court houses. It was noted that both the Magistrates and witnesses attending court hearings were fearful, with the effect that there was low witness attendance at hearings.
ECS tendered for a contract to provide suitably trained Court Officers. ECS is very proud of the fact that despite being over 300 miles away from our main operational centre in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, ECS was able to secure a 3-year contract with Gwent MCC.
One of the measures introduced was new search equipment and procedures at each of the ten court houses; in addition, ECS also put in place an improved training regime for all new and existing Court Security Officers. As a result, the number of witnesses attending court has improved from under 32% to 87% over the course of twelve months.
No doubt, with ECS’s new security measures, both the Court staff and witnesses feel considerably safer. Indeed, ECS is very proud that we have secured a contract with Her Majesty’s Court Services for Dorset and Gloucestershire. The new Regional Area Director, Rod Brummit said “We have been extremely satisfied with the support we have received from ECS. The staff and court users have remarked how much safer they feel since ECS have taken over the security. The service provided by ECS has been successfully mapped against the ‘The Department of Constitutional Affairs’ ‘Safe and Secure’ exacting standards.”
Police Regional Headquaters & Stations
“Although in an isolated location, away from the main residential conurbations, as a Police Authority we could always be a target for possible attack from many different types of organisations,” said the ‘The Chief Superintendent’ responsible for Police Headquarters
When they first approached ECS eight years ago, this Police Authority had no formal contract with any security company in place to protect their premises. Nevertheless, being prudent and cautious, they were aware they needed improved security.
The Police Authority had recently constructed a Gate House at its main entrance and was interested in ECS’s services, and in particular, Static Guarding with CCTV monitoring.
ECS took a pro-active role in listening to the Client’s needs and in line the Police Authority’s instructions, ECS tailor-made the two services to help resolve the security problems the Police Authority faced. The innovative ideas ECS came up were given serious consideration and several suggestions wee made which were implemented.
Since the start of this business relationship with the Police Authority in 2000, ECS has monitored, maintained and managed the services tailor-made for the Client. In addition, as part of ECS’s commitment to encourage Client satisfaction. ECS provides input for the Police Authority on ongoing security issues
Industrial Steel Producer
Over 20 years ago, ECS was asked to manage the security issues in a major blue chip company that specialises in manufacturing steel. This steel manufacturing company trades both nationally and internationally. The large plant has a high risk of intrusion and possible major theft, espionage and criminal damage taking place from external intruders, also there is the risk of possible theft from visiting lorry drivers and their own staff.
One distinct problem the client faced in recent years was the fact that the security officers increasing had to deal with foreign lorry drivers who arrived at the company’s plant; some drivers came from as far away as Portugal and Russia. Language was a problem and many times, the security guards were unable to communicate their instructions to these lorry drivers. As a result of suggestions by our staff and involvement of ECS management liaising with the client, ECS was able to ensure that its security officers were duly supported and trained. ECS staff have access to written translated instructions in more than 20 languages that can be handed to the lorry drivers who arrive at the company’s plant, so they know exactly where they should go and what they are permitted to do whilst on site.
Training for our security staff now includes such diverse things as ‘Major Disaster Planning’ and ‘Emergency First Aid’.
No doubt, ECS’s involvement in the security issues of this company has developed considerably. ECS is very proud of the fact that we started with providing security officers at the gate house for this client and today, ECS has become an integral part of the company’s operations
