Case Studies > Industrial Steel Producer
Over 20 years ago, ECS was asked to manage the security issues in a major blue chip company that specialises in manufacturing steel. This steel manufacturing company trades both nationally and internationally. The large plant has a high risk of intrusion and possible major theft, espionage and criminal damage taking place from external intruders, also there is the risk of possible theft from visiting lorry drivers and their own staff.
One distinct problem the client faced in recent years was the fact that the security officers increasing had to deal with foreign lorry drivers who arrived at the company’s plant; some drivers came from as far away as Portugal and Russia. Language was a problem and many times, the security guards were unable to communicate their instructions to these lorry drivers. As a result of suggestions by our staff and involvement of ECS management liaising with the client, ECS was able to ensure that its security officers were duly supported and trained. ECS staff have access to written translated instructions in more than 20 languages that can be handed to the lorry drivers who arrive at the company’s plant, so they know exactly where they should go and what they are permitted to do whilst on site.
Training for our security staff now includes such diverse things as ‘Major Disaster Planning’ and ‘Emergency First Aid’.
No doubt, ECS’s involvement in the security issues of this company has developed considerably. ECS is very proud of the fact that we started with providing security officers at the gate house for this client and today, ECS has become an integral part of the company’s operations
